This enables multiple deployment models for the database cloud, which allow for deployment in both physical and virtual environments. A database cloud helps to facilitate consolidation, but not all forms of consolidation yield the same benefits. To maximize ROI, companies need to understand the various forms of consolidation and their impact on the bottom line. The easiest form of consolidation is to consolidate at the server level, often using server virtualization. This is easy, and provides immediate and visible payback.

The ideal DT solution would result in no downtime and no lost data, even during a disaster. Such solutions do exist, but they cost more than solutions that have some amount of downtime or data loss associated with a disaster. Planned and Unplanned Outages So what happens when an application stops working or stops behaving as expected, due to the failure of even one of the crucial components?
